Service Description

In early childhood settings children develop a sense of belonging when they feel accepted, develop attachments and trust those that care for them. As children are developing their sense of identity, they explore different aspects of it (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive), through their play and their relationships. The session, Belonging, Being and Becoming focuses on fostering connectedness, wellbeing and confidence building by creating an emotionally enabling environment. Key Learning Explore the challenges of being able to create a sense of belonging for children and families, particularly important for services that are becoming increasingly larger. Identify the need for strong philosophies, good communication techniques, and a commitment to socially inclusive practices. Provoke conversations, improve communication and promote common understanding within staff teams of the importance of creating emotionally healthy environments for young children.
